Abigail + Andrew
Surprise Proposal in Cannon Beach, Oregon 

We absolutely love getting to be a part of proposals. The element of surprise, the raw emotion, the overflowing happiness; it's all so exciting! When Andrew first reached out to us about his Cannon Beach proposal he had just started planning but knew he wanted to do something big! Andrew + Abigail both live in Georgia so my first question was, "why Oregon?"

Andrews response, "Abby would go to Cannon beach every summer for the past few years and it has a very special place in her heart so, what better way to pop the question than in the place that she loves the most!"

Not only was Andrew planning the proposal but he was making the entire trip as a surprise! Even more exciting! Since he had never been to Oregon he had an idea of the places he wanted to go from stories Abigail would tell him but needed a little assistance nailing down the exact plan. We talked about what Abigail loved most about the Oregon Coast, her favorite spots, and decided to begin the shoot at Chapman Beach, just North of Cannon Beach near Ecola State Park. This spot is often overlooked as it's not directly in front of Haystack Rock but it has so much to offer! Andrew mentioned that Abigail loved running on the beach and always talked about how much she loved the dunes so we knew we had to incorporate them into the shoot. 

Andrew knew that for the actual proposal he wanted to have the iconic view of Haystack Rock in the background so we made a plan for him to walk past us just far enough that it wouldn't be totally obvious we were there to take photos of them. We pulled our favorite move- pretending that we're doing a headshot shoot of each other! The surprise went off without a hitch! After the proposal we ran around the beach, playing on the rocks near the tide pools and taking in the golden light on the sand dunes as the sun set over the ocean. As the vibrant colors of the sunset started to appear, the birds decided to put on a show creating the most beautiful scene, it still blows our minds. The colors in the sky kept getting better and better, one of my favorite things about the Oregon coast- you simply can't beat the sunsets. We had fun getting creative with double exposures, capturing every last bit of light we could before Andrew whisked Abigail off to her next surprise, an Airbnb full of her closest friends in Oregon ready to continue their celebration!
