FAQ

How does the booking process work?

First, you’ll send us an inquiry and see if we’re available for your date. If we are, then we’ll chat over the phone or FaceTime so we can hear more about you and what you’re planning. We also want to tell you about us and get to know each other. We really believe even more than liking their work, it’s SO important to connect personally with your photographers. We’ll be with you the whole day, you want to make sure you feel comfortable around us! From there we will send over an online contract for you to review and electronically sign. Once you’ve signed your contract and paid the deposit your date will be officially held! Deposits are 30% with the remaining balance being due 30 days prior to the wedding date. From there we will work to schedule your engagement session and talk more as your wedding date gets closer about creating a timeline for your day. Throughout your engagement we encourage you to reach out to us any time! We’re always here to answer any questions you have and offer any advice we can.

Do you offer albums?

YES and we strongly encourage everyone to invest in one! Nothing makes us more sad than photos only living on the internet or dying on a hard drive. Being able to hold a physical book, turn through the pages and relive such an important time in your life is a really wonderful feeling. And that’s now! Imagine what it will feel like 5, 10, 20, 50 years from now when you’ve forgotten your Instagram password! Learn more about our albums here.

Do you do videography?

Yes! Take a look at our videos here and learn more about our packages here.

Do you both go to every wedding?

Yes! Our style is a combination of our strengths, both in shooting and interaction with our couples and their guests. We feel that when we work together we create something truly unique. Plus, we just really like working together and both want to be a part of your celebration!

How much does it cost?

Our wedding packages begin at $3,700 for 6 hours photo and $2,600 for 6 hours of video. Elopement pricing varies based on location, date, number of people, etc. so we often end up creating a custom package based on your vision for the day. Reach out and let us know what you’re planning so we can provide you with a custom quote! You can take a look at our full price guide here.

Can i share my photos on social media?

Yes, please! It makes us so happy when our couples share their images with friends and family! It’s also so fun to see all of your favorites. We just ask that whenever you post you give us proper credit for the photo and tag or link back to us on whatever platform you’re posting the photo on. Also, please don’t add any filters or additional edits!

Where are you located?

We’ve been happily living in Portland, Oregon for the past 11 years. People always ask us what made us move here and we could give you some deep answer about the beauty of the Pacific Northwest and the accepting, artistic culture of Portland but really, it was for the food. Everything else is just a bonus.

Do you travel?

Heck yeah we do! We’ve traveled all around the world capturing weddings, elopements, and engagement shoots. We often create custom packages and base travel fees on location so reach out and tell us more about what you’re planning so we can give you a personalized quote!

Do you shoot things other than weddings?

Absolutely! We do a ton of portrait work including engagements, proposals, families, newborns, maternity, and seniors. Portrait shoots begin at $700 but every now and then we offer a special mini session rate. You can check out our full price guide here. In addition to that, Madye is a Portland boudoir photographer and offers a variety of packages. You can learn more about her passion for boudoir photography and view pricing here. We also offer branding and headshot shoots. For those, we often create a custom package based on the clients needs so reach out directly through our contact form or shoot us an email at hello@taylorandmadye.com to get more info. So long answer short, yes, we pretty much do it all!

What’s your favorite movie?

This might be the most important question of all. And extremely difficult to answer. Like.. of all time?! Are we going by genre? So many choices. If we had to pick–
Madye -> Twister
Taylor -> Drop Dead Gorgeous

*Honorable mentions: Burn After Reading, Aliens, Ocean’s Eleven, O Brother, Where Art Thou, 10 Things I Hate About You, Wolf of Wall Street. We could probably go on forever…

What’s your photography style?

It’s really hard to put what we do visually into words! We hope that our work speaks for itself but here are some ways that we’ve heard people describe our work: COLORFUL, fun, honest, inclusive, artistic, photojournalistic, unique, personal, cinematic, environmental, candid, genuine with palpable emotion, well composed.

How can I print My photos?

Directly through your online gallery! You can also send the link to family and friends and they can order prints too. We use a trusted lab that we’ve been printing through for years and couldn’t be happier with the work they produce. Alternatively, if you have a preferred lab you’d like to print through you can use your downloaded images to print anywhere you’d like. Now it’s time for the photographers spiel about printing: not all labs or printers are created equal. Our images tend to have rich, dark tones to them and if you’re not printing through a professional lab there’s a good chance those images will come out grainy, over saturated, or just not looking the way they are intended to. While you may save a few bucks going with a bargain printing company you’ll likely end up spending more in the long run if you need to purchase those prints again because they don’t look right.

Do you give advice on timelines?

Yes! The best way to have an easy going, stress free wedding day that flows nicely is to have a well crafted timeline. We’ve done enough weddings to know when to schedule extra time because things will likely run late and how to space it out so it doesn’t feel rushed. Every wedding is different and we will work with you to create a custom timeline specific to your day.

Will all the photos i receive be edited?

Yes! Every single photo we deliver is carefully and thoughtfully edited by us.

Can I have the raw unedited photos?

No, sorry! We just don’t give out unedited images. It would be like a bakery giving you your cake when it still needed some more time in the oven and frosting. It just wouldn’t be complete.

How many photos will i receive and how?

You will receive your images through an online gallery where you can download all your images in high-resolution, can share the link with family and friends, and order prints! As for how many images there will be, there are a ton of factors that go into this, such as how many people are at the wedding, if you have a wedding party, if you do a first look, etc. But on average you can expect to receive about 75 images per hour that we’re with you.

How long will it take to get our photos?

Our turnaround time varies depending on the time of year but for weddings it’s approximately 8-10 weeks and for engagement and portrait shoots the turnaround time is approximately 2-3 weeks. For weddings and elopements we will send over some previews within a week after the wedding!

How many weddings have you photographed?

We’ve been capturing weddings since 2011 and have done somewhere in the ballpark of 400! Before we were photographing them, Madye was a server and Taylor was a bartender at a few wedding venues in Taylor’s hometown for about 5 years. So the total that we’ve worked in any capacity is probably around 600! So. Much. Wedding. Knowledge.

Do you take formal family photos at weddings?

Of course! Though most of our work is non-traditional we understand the importance of traditional family photos and especially how important they are to parents and grandparents! We can do as many or as few as you’d like.

What does your logo mean?

Many years ago, just after we got done with our first big out of country trip, we decided to rebrand our business. We experienced so much during that trip that changed the way we now live our lives and view the world, and that included what kind of business we wanted to run. To stop worrying so much about what we’re “supposed” to be doing and instead follow what we’re truly passionate about. There was a phrase Taylor thought of and kept repeating to himself over and over again, “Abandon your fears and let the unknown grow wild”. A couple of fun facts about us: Madye’s biggest fear is the ocean (she’s convinced there’s an entire alien civilization living down there… which there totally is) and Taylor’s is open space (there’s just so much of it!). Hence, the deep sea diver and space helmets cast aside to let something new and beautiful grow in their place.
