On a late summer afternoon we met Rachel + Eli at the coordinates they gave us for a secret trail they discovered that they described as having big views and a sprawling field. They said they thought it would be a good spot for an Oregon adventure engagement session, little did we know we were about to have our dang minds blown!
We set out on a 5-mile hike and timed it so we would get to the top right as golden hour was falling over the valley. I still can't get over how beautiful it was, and as the light faded it just kept getting better. These Hood River engagement photos take full advantage of golden AND blue hour in the most wonderful way. Everyone always talks about golden hour (and rightfully so) but I feel like blue hour doesn't get the same kind of love. Don't get me wrong, I love a good golden hour! I mean, look at these photos, it's SO pretty!! And this spot was absolutely perfect for it. The field lit up in a way I've only seen a couple of times. The harsh light against the sweeping Mount Hood backdrop was simply incredible. As the light faded and dusk set in, the soft tones were the perfect compliment to the vibrant glow that just dipped behind the mountains. If you know us, you know we love playing with light, so getting to experience so many variations all in one shoot was a real treat.
Rachel + Eli's favorite thing to do together is soaking up as much of the outdoors as they can, so being able to capture their Hood River engagement photos in such a meaningful place to them filled us with so much joy! We had the best time exploring with these two, hearing stories about their relationship and travels. We cannot wait to capture their Oregon vineyard wedding next year!
