Boudoir by madye
More than just a photoshoot,
I want to provide an experience
centered around empowerment

Hello,
Beautiful
Let’s create something together
Authentic

Intimate
Natural
Empowering

Women freakin’ rule
let’s celebrate that
The first time I did a boudoir shoot was on a whim. I was fresh off the Women’s March, feeling very empowered, and more comfortable and confident with myself than I ever had before. It was a real “I am woman hear me roar” vibe. We were in Joshua Tree staying at this amazing AirBnB with a wrap around privacy fence and I thought to myself, who needs clothes? So I ditched ’em. I was really getting out of my comfort zone and loving it. After a game of nude bocce ball I decided that I wanted to capture exactly what I was feeling at that moment. The power, the confidence, the excitement! There’s just something about being naked outside that makes you feel free. Like, really truly free. So I set up my camera and snapped a few frames. I still look at those images if I’m feeling down or doubting myself. They make me feel strong and beautiful, they remind me of how I felt that day and those feelings start flooding back in. To me, boudoir photography isn’t about looking sexy for a photo, it’s about creating a space for you to feel comfortable and confident and locking those feelings into a frame so you never forget it.

Q+A
The Process
STEP ONE: You’re here! Take a look at my work and reach out so we can talk more about creating your dream shoot.
Step Two: After we choose a shoot date I will send over a contract for you to sign. Once you’ve completed the contract and paid your deposit (30% of the package fee) you’re good to go! The remaining balance will be due on the day of the shoot.
Step Three: I will reach out to finalize all the details about a week before the shoot. We will have already discussed your vision for the photos and locations during our initial consultation but now we will firm up those plans, make sure the weathers good, and answer any remaining questions you have.
Step Four: Shoot day is here! We pop some champagne, play some music, and have all the fun while I snap a ton of photos.
Step Five: In about 2-3 weeks I will send over a proofing gallery for you to take a look at. You will choose your favorites (how many will depend on which package you chose), then I will take those images, complete the retouching process, and get your final fully edited images sent to you in about a week.
Step Six: Album design! I will create a custom design for you using the images you selected to be retouched and send it along with your final gallery. You will be able to view your album virtually online and make notes for any changes you’d like me to make. Once we have it finalized you will pick out which cover you’d like, we will get it ordered, and it will arrive at your doorstep within 7-10 business days!
Locations
This is where my style of boudoir photography differs from most of what you see. I believe that a huge part of that free, empowering feeling you get during your session comes from allowing yourself to be totally raw and natural. What better place to do that than out in nature?! Don’t get me wrong, I love a session in a studio or cool AirBnb, but I would say the majority of my boudoir shoots are done outside. I’ve spent a lot of time location scouting to curate a list of private places in a variety of nature settings so that you can feel comfortable letting go and immersing yourself in the moment.
But hey, that’s not for everyone and that’s totally okay! I’ve also done sessions in studios, hotels, AirBnb’s, and in your own home. If you feel like this option is more for you I’m happy to provide recommendations of places you can book for the shoot.
GUESS WHAT! I’m very excited to announce that coming soon I will have a greenhouse studio that you can choose to be your location at no additional charge. If you know me and my obsession with plants you know that I am VERY stoked about this!
Hair + Makeup
I’m really going to start sounding like a broken record here, because my style of boudoir photography is more natural, I encourage my clients not to get too crazy with hair and makeup. I want these photos to reflect you and all of your beauty, I wouldn’t want you to look back at your images and think “that’s not what I look like”. With that said, I want you to feel your best so if you would like to have your hair and makeup professionally done I say do it! You can check out our preferred vendors page to see our favorite hair and makeup artists in the Portland area and reach out to them to set up a consultation.
Outfits
I want this shoot to be whatever you want it to be! Want to have 4 outfit changes? Go for it. Want to show up in a flowy dress, pop that baby off half way through the session and do the rest in the nude? Let’s do it! I don’t want to put any restrictions here as I feel this shoot should be an expression of you in any way you want it to be. I am, however, happy to provide suggestions and guidance on outfits and what I think would work best for your vision.
Retouching
I think it is extremely important to have open, honest conversations about what to expect in the editing process. So the first thing I will say is this- I will NEVER alter body types or make someone look like something they’re not. These sessions are about loving yourself and embracing who you are! Not creating something that’s not real. If that’s what you have in mind then I’m probably not the photographer for you. Don’t get me wrong, I will absolutely edit your images! Once you choose which images you’d like to be retouched we will discuss what you see in the image that you’d like done so we can make sure that you feel comfortable with any edits I will be making to the photo. Everyone sees themselves differently and it is certainly not my place to presume what you might want done to your images.
For example: You may have a scar or stretch marks. One person may want those removed but another may want to wear those loud and proud because it reminds them of a time in their life that has made them who they are such as having a baby or maybe a life saving surgery.
This is why I will always discuss the expectations of retouching prior, during, and after every shoot.
A couple examples of things to be retouched: blemishes, stray hairs, smoothing out skin, or removing something from the background.
PS- when I say retouching I am talking about removing things or changing an image, not color editing. Every image you receive will be edited in the same color style as you see across our website.
Posting your images
Of course I would love to share photos from your shoot! But this decision is completely up to you. I will always ask for your approval before sharing any of your images. Some clients are okay with images being on our website but not social media, some are okay with both, we will talk about what you’re comfortable with and honor that. If you know you’d rather not have your photos shared anywhere that’s totally okay! Just let me know and they’ll stay between us.
Boudoir for everyone
Though this page primarily leans towards women, I believe that every person should empower themselves with this type of photography no matter what gender they identify as! Broken record here again- I want this shoot to be all about celebrating and empowering YOU! So no matter who you are, send me a message and let’s talk more about how we can create something beautiful and meaningful together.

I did a “boudoir” shoot and damn…Madye truly made me feel seen! Seriously though, this experience was unexpectedly healing. She is the first person who has really given me the opportunity to be with my body as it is, without shame or judgement, in an intentionally safe and sacred space. And on a personal level, I’ve been learning how to take up space, be seen, and feel that my presence is worthy of reverence. So not only was the photo shoot experience healing, but getting to see the images was so powerful to me. Highly highly recommend this experience to any person learning to honor themselves and heal from body hatred.

I made a really bold move and hired Madye to do a boudoir photo shoot of me. I turned 40 this year and have been making some big life changes. I have never been comfortable in my body or how I look. I have always been extremely self conscious. Madye and I hiked out into the beautiful Joshua Tree National Park and found the perfect, secluded spot. I was so nervous but Madye made me feel incredibly relaxed and confident! She knows just the right way to have you pose that not only hides your insecurities, but also make you look comfortable. It was extremely empowering and I honestly had so much fun! I’m so happy I did this and will honestly cherish this moment and the photos forever!!
